Artemide Mercury Suspension – a floating composition of metal, light and reflection
The Mercury Suspension by Artemide The Mercury Suspension by Artemide is the version that allows the lamp to descend into the room and build a stronger relationship with the architecture of the space. Here, Mercury does not stay close to the ceiling. It floats, it can be seen from different angles, and it behaves like a central sculptural element.
Ross Lovegrove’s idea is based on large biomorphic metallic surfaces that recall smooth stones or drops. These forms are reflected in the upper disc and in one another, so the lamp never feels completely static. During the day, it reflects natural light and the movement around it. In the evening, it becomes more theatrical, as the indirect light moves through the polished surfaces.
For dining areas, lobbies and spaces with height
The Version of Suspension needs room to breathe. Above a dining table, in a large living room, over a reception desk, in a lounge area, lobby or boutique hotel, it can become the main lighting element that visually organizes the area.
With a body height of 600 mm,a 1100 mm diameter, and a maximum suspension of 2000 mm it gives the designer flexibility to position the lamp according to the scale of the room. Artemide also notes that its modular shape can be used for customized compositions in special projects, making it especially interesting for hospitality, office and contract applications.
A pendant lamp with real scenic strength
Mercury Suspension is not the right choice for a space that needs something neutral. It is for clients, architects and interior designers who want a lamp to be visible, to create identity and to change the experience of the room.
In a home, it can give character to a dining area or a living room with a higher ceiling. In a professional interior, it can become a memorable point: the light fixture a visitor remembers after leaving. Although it has a strong image, it does not feel heavy in the traditional sense, because its form is based on reflection and the feeling of suspension. For Light Plus, Mercury Suspension should not be presented as a simple pendant. It is closer to a small-scale luminous installation: an object that brings together design, technology and atmosphere.
