Artemide Pirce Micro Suspension: a compact pendant with movement
The Artemide Pirce Micro Suspension is the smaller version of one of Artemide’s most recognisable pendant designs. Created by Giuseppe Maurizio Scutellà, it keeps the characteristic movement of the Pirce family, but in a more compact size. This makes it easier to use in homes, boutique interiors and spaces where a pendant light needs presence without becoming too large for the room.
The shape is what makes Pirce Micro stand out. A thin disc opens and curves downward in a spiral form, creating a lamp that feels light and dynamic rather than fixed and static. The eye follows the movement from the ceiling downwards, while the light works together with the shape. This is why Pirce Micro is not just a pendant light for illumination. It also helps define the character of the area where it is placed.
Residential placement
In a residential interior, Pirce Micro can work well above a small dining table, a kitchen island or a side table. It can also be used in a bedroom, suspended on one or both sides of the bed instead of standard bedside lamps. This keeps the bedside tables free and gives the room a more designed, architectural feeling.
In a living room, it can be placed above a coffee table, near a reading chair or in a corner that needs a more special lighting point. It does not always need to be placed in the centre of the room. In many cases, it works better when it defines a specific area within the interior.
Lighting effect and professional use
Pirce Micro provides light with an atmospheric and decorative quality. It is not the right choice for strong task lighting or as the only light source in a large space. It works best as part of a layered lighting plan, together with architectural lighting, wall lights or floor lamps.
In hospitality interiors, such as boutique hotel rooms, restaurants, lounge areas and reception corners, Pirce Micro can be used as a single pendant or repeated in a sequence. Used in repetition, it can create rhythm above counters, dining tables or reception points.
For architects and interior designers, Pirce Micro is useful when a project needs a pendant light with movement, design identity and a controlled size. It gives the space something more expressive than a simple pendant, while remaining practical enough for real homes and professional interiors.
