The Tom Dixon Melt Fat Cone Table Light is not simply a lamp placed on a table to provide light. It works as a small sculptural object within the interior, with a surface that changes depending on whether the lamp is switched on or off.
Its Smoke Polished Polycarbonate orb is crafted using blow moulding and vacuum metallisation, creating the impression of a luminous form that appears to melt. When illuminated, the result recalls hot-blown glass, with depth and irregular luminosity. When switched off, the surface becomes more mirror-like and reflects its surroundings, allowing the lamp to act as a decorative object even during the day.
The fat cone base gives the lamp a more grounded and visually present silhouette than a very slim table base, while still keeping the clean identity of the Melt family. It can be placed on an entrance console, a side table next to a sofa, a bedside table, a lounge area, a sideboard, a reception point or inside a hotel suite. It is suitable for spaces that need a table light with atmosphere, materiality and design intensity, rather than just a practical source of light.
