Artemide Cadmo Floor – a sculptural floor lamp with architectural light
The Cadmo Floor by Artemide is not a traditional floor lamp built around a visible shade. Its design is more architectural: a painted steel panel curves around the light source, concealing it and releasing the light in a controlled way. The result is indirect upward illumination combined with a diffused vertical glow through the narrow aperture of the lamp. This gives Cadmo Floor a very specific role in the room. It does not simply occupy an empty corner. It adds height, structure and a clear lighting gesture.
For living rooms, lounge corners and hospitality interiors
Cadmo Floor works beautifully beside a sofa, behind an armchair, near an entrance or inside a lounge setting. In residential interiors, it can make a living room corner feel more complete without adding visual clutter. In boutique hotels, reception areas or professional spaces, it becomes a vertical lighting element that helps define the atmosphere of the room.
Its form is clean and graphic, but the light remains soft and usable. This balance makes it suitable for projects where the floor lamp needs to look refined, but also serves the daily rhythm of the space.
Dimmable indirect light with a strong design identity
The integrated light intensity regulator makes Cadmo Floor adaptable. It can provide a stronger lighting effect when the room needs more presence, then dim down for a calmer evening setting. This is especially useful in interiors where ceiling lighting should not be the only source of light.
The by Karim Rashid for Artemide Cadmo Floor combines a painted steel body with a painted inox-steel cover-base. Available in Black/White and White/White, it can either create contrast in a contemporary interior or blend more quietly into a lighter scheme.
For architects, interior designers and design-conscious clients, Cadmo Floor is a strong choice when a space needs more than a decorative floor lamp. It brings direction, depth and a controlled indirect glow into the room.Karim Rashi
